Java update slowing things down.

I was prompted to download a java update and Java fx on sunday. It was quite a chunky download and I recall thinking that I wished I'd waited until free time to do it.
Since then I've done a couple of shut downs and restarts but everything is running really slowly. Start up and resume from sleep  particulalry seems to take noticably longer and getting FF3 to fire up takes ages too. Ive done a quick google but I dont see reported problems anywhere.
I'm on XP Home with 2GB of ram running zonealarm and avast.
Is it just me?

Re: Java update slowing things down.

AFAIK my JAVA Runtime Environment is fully up to date and I've not noticed any recent issues (XP Pro/Vista Business).

Re: Java update slowing things down.

The JRE won't start until it is called by a process, so it shouldn't affect your startup times.
As with Bob my runtimes are all up to date with no issues.
