I know we've covered this subject before, but it may prompt some who don't regularly Backup their Computer, Phone, Smartphone, iPad etc files
I use Time Machine x 3, Carbon Copy Cloner x 2, plus occasional DVD's of personal Data, Docs, Excel, Word etc.
And an occasional emailing of some data to email accounts, all password protected of course.
Plus.... Paper !!
Very simple examples website...

It's not big enough if I were to use all my PC storage.
I wrote a couple of BASH scripts and set up a big LVM partition.
Each LVM partion is a bit bigger than the corresponding PC partition.
I now have 21 partitions containing every file from all my PC partitions.
All done with rsync.

I don't get any problems with file locks etc - its run from a Linux live DVD.
Clever, eh?

Not to mention that files are continually changing.
You need a second OS to take a snapshot of your main OS and data.
A Linux live CD is excellent for this.

Why punched tape?
In terms of data persistence, if looked after correctly, paper tape lasts hundreds of years longer than magnetic media. Plus tape is a format that in the future will still be readable, somehow. As for DVD's, the discs will last for hundreds of years, but optical drives will have gone extinct by the year 2040.
