Is this better than AVG Free

hi, was just looking tho my account and I seen something for add-ons and clicked and it said
Plusnet Protect powered by McAfee (included) for Free
can anyway tell me if this is better than the AVG free I got on, also seems to include a firewall but is that also better than the windows one.
Is it worth a go at getting it.

Re: Is this better than AVG Free

In all fairness
There is not much difference in them tbh
You would be no better nor worse off by changing AV's if you are not having any issues in performance etc with AVG
As for the firewall side if things if you are using a windows operating system then this thread may be of some use http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,126934.msg1103217.html#msg1103217
Both personally & professionally
I advise against AVG or Mcafee due to both their poor reputations (since they try to be the belt braces & chastity belt approach)
Even Intel which has taken over Mcafee are or have dropped the Mcafee brand name (will see if I can find the link)
The recommendations would be either
Avast free or Microsoft Security Essentials (MSSE) not both for the main resident AV
That said if you are happy with AVG then stick with that as there are worse out there
Edit:

[quote= http://upstart.bizjournals.com/entrepreneurs/hot-shots/2014/01/07/intel-drops-mcafee-name-from-software.html]John McAfee is finally glad to be rid of his embarrassing association with McAfee antivirus software.
[quote= http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-25631183]His response to Intel’s rebranding was pure McAfee: “I am now everlastingly grateful to Intel for freeing me from this terrible association with the worst software on the planet,” he told the BBC. “These are not my words, but the words of millions of irate users. My elation at Intel’s decision is beyond words.”

He's a hypocrit. I am sure he didn't mind all the wealth it bought him.
I hate people like that. They hate the very people/thing that made them stinking rich.

Re: Is this better than AVG Free

It is not so much as the people going out  purposely purchasing Mcafee
It was more a case that manufacturers were thrusting it in consumers faces, by pre-installing it on their PC's / Laptops etc
The same is happening with Norton, yet Norton is not as bad as Mcafee / but not far off heading that way
