Is it genuine?

Sorry if this has already been asked.
I have just received this email and am wondering  if it is genuine. I haven't clicked on the link "just in case!"

Re: Is it genuine?

It's got phishing written all over it.
Generic salutation
Grammar and spelling mistakes
Threat of suspension
And generally not the kind of thing any ISP would send to a customer.

Re: Is it genuine?

Hello 4C.
Thanks for your reply. You have confirmed my suspicions.
I was at two minds whether or not to delete the link when I posted to the forum. But I thought that any member of the PlusNet staff who may want to investigate my email, would need it.
Hope I didn't do wrong!
Cheers

Re: Is it genuine?

No, Keith, you've done nothing wrong.
Your post may well be a valuable 'heads up' for other PN customers receiving a similar email.
Most organisations have some form of reporting system, such as an address to which to forward dodgy emails - eg phishing@name_of_organisation.co.uk , but I see no reference to such a scheme on the PN help & support pages.
Hopefully one of the Digital Care Team will be along shortly to advise...

Re: Is it genuine?

We've seen a few reports of these, and have the headers or one of them. We;re looking into it but I can say for certain the email is *not* from Plusnet.
When we send you an email we include your username and try to keep the spelling and grammatical errors to a minimum Wink

Re: Is it genuine?

You can also tell it's not a genuine email from Plusnet because it contains no marketing information trying to sell you home phone etc. Tongue

Re: Is it genuine?

You would think that the people sending these emails would at least study some real, genuin emails from plusnet first and at least try to do a better job of making it look real.
With all the spelling/grammer mistakes and general unprofessional look of the email you would think they want you to know it is fake.

Re: Is it genuine?

Yeah, I must admit, I am constantly amazed by how bad these emails are, but hey so long as they work, what do they care?
