Is anyone else having trouble with the new eBay email message format ?

On the 26th July 2010, eBay (in their wisdom !) changed the structure of their notification emails, unfortunately since this change I have been unable (in my Evolution email client) to click on the hyperlinks back to the eBay website without the resulting eBay web page showing a variety of errors.
Before this issue arose, the eBay email hyperlinks had the structure such as -
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290457755810&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:GB:1123
and Evolution still opens these links correctly.
After the eBay change the links look like -
    http://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/e11021.m45.l1123/7?euid=5352848142992251064&loc=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay....
-now if within Evolution I hover over the hyperlink and select "[Copy Link Location]", then paste the result in Firefox, then I get the result I would expect.
HOWEVER if in the same link I try to either "[Open Link In Browser]", or simply double clicking the mouse to open the link into Firefox, then the URL that Firefox receives looks like -
    http://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/e11021.m45.l1123/7?euid=5352848142992251064&loc=http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/...
- which turns out to be invalid !
I was wondering if the change in the eBay message format was affecting anyone else - or whether it was just me ?

I am running the following - Ubuntu Lucid Lynx 10.04 + Firefox 3.6.8 + Evolution 2.28.3
I know that by using other email clients (such as Outlook) this problem does not seem to occur, but I am happy with Evolution and don't particularly want to change.
What can I do to get Evolution to send the correct form of the URL to Firefox ? - or is this an Evolution bug ?.
I have already started a thread on the Launchpad website, and have started to get suggestions back.
I have also tried the route of repeatedly contacting eBay support, who say because I'm not running Internet explorer they really don't care that their change has stopped me using their site, and that I should contact Mozilla because there must be a bug in Firefox !. That does always seem to be their answer to everything, clear all your browser cache and history, then reset all applications back to the default settings !. - pathetic !!!

So eBay really don't care about Linux users -
[quote=eBay customer support]I have noticed that you're currently using a Linux as your operating system.
As of now, the recommended operating system that can
support eBay functions are Microsoft Windows and Macintosh. This is the
reason why some hyperlinks can't be processed by your email client
because when using a different operating system like Linux, other eBay
functions may not be supported. I suggest that you use the supported
operating systems when using eBay to ensure proper functionality of the site.
- so nothing to do with them changing the hyperlink format to use embedded ESCAPE characters then !

Can't say I have noticed. Although I use Thunderbird not Evolution (couldn't get on with it at all  >:()
Although I usually DON'T click on links in emails by default, I open the ebay site and go to messages and check there.

Re: Is anyone else having trouble with the new eBay email message format ?

I have now progressed this issue (on the Launchpad website) from an open question about Evolution mail, to a reported bug - and currently I am hopeful that for such a minor fix, that it gets picked up quickly.
If after maybe a month this doesn't get fixed then I guess I will have to start looking at using a different email client for my eBay messages.
Last time I reviewed the available email clients I found Evolution suited my requirements for managing hundreds of eBay emails quickly, and Thunderbird had some quirk that required more button clicks to perform the same actions.
But that was two years ago, and all the email clients will have moved on since then, so maybe things have improved.
As I am writing this, it has just occurred to me that my all time favourite email client "Pegasus Mail" http://www.pmail.com/ has been updated this year, but is only available for Windows.
So maybe this is the opportunity for me to see whether I can get Pegasus to work under Wine on Ubuntu !.

I think that they've a real cheek. It's nowt to do with them what operating systems folk use.
They're the ones in business and making money by the shed load - they should provide what
the paying customer wants and needs.
Because there isn't another site to match them I reckon they're too big for their boots.  Angry

I could almost understand this point of view if the eBay had never worked on Linux,  but some of the reasons I changed to Linux was that Ubuntu was faster and more secure with their website than (at the time) Windows XP.
I have pointed out to them that I have been using Linux for FOUR years without problems, and it is only since they started using dubious coding in their email hyperlinks (two weeks ago) that there has been a problem.
