Irritating Bu-Bum noise

Whenever I'm using the mouse for the last 2 days, it freezes momentarily and  there is a "bu-bum" noise, at irregular intervals. It's the same noise as when a USB device it attached/unattached. It's a Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical 1.1A, 2 years old. Using Windows 7. Everything seems to be firmly attached and I haven't added or taken out any software or hardware for at least 2 months.
Do I just need a new mouse?

Re: Irritating Bu-Bum noise

That is a sign that the mouse is disconnecting then connecting - usual cause is a faulty mouse or more often the connection between the mouse and the cable = some Logitech models are prone to that

Re: Irritating Bu-Bum noise

Most likely the mouse but may not be the mouse - it could be an issue with the internal USB hub/bridge but try a new mouse first and see if it cures the issues.

Have a look on Ebay.... and buy 2 from the same supplier... so if one goes wrong... doesn`t work... does what your last one did.... you have a spare .... immediately... !  Wink

Some reputable shops like Ebuyer.com are on Ebay, & are much better than some random Ebay person / shop etc

to some extent.... I agree....

however... I only use a mouse for ...... well... a pointing device.... so I am not going to pay £15.00 for something that is only £2.50 inc p&p from a UK supplier with NEXT DAY post paid delivery.... if it is cheap and came from Hong Kong.... then I am helping the poor nations to provide employment and income to someone.... Also if it breaks in a year then I have had my value from it... and will repeat the order, thereby ensuring continued employment and income to those less fortunate than myself.

And from experience,  it's usually cheaper to go the the supplier directly so you don't get charged the extras for going through ebay.

Re: Irritating Bu-Bum noise

One of the USB ports on my motherboard is slightly loose and therefore causes this noise a fair bit Sad
