In need of a new Router

Hello
I'm in the market for a new ADSL Router. My criteria is;
Must have:
Modem
Firewall
1 Ethernet port
Would Like:
Quality of Service
ADSL2+ Annex M support
Hardware monitoring. Wouldn't say no to some fancy graphs showing how must bandwidth is being used and by who.
Wireless support isn't really worth considering. Wireless reception is near impossible in the room where my Master Socket is.
The Netgear DG834G seems to be the Router everyone talks about. No Annex M support though. And I'm probably spending extra on Wireless that I won't be able to use.
£55 is my budget.
Recommendations please Smiley

Re: In need of a new Router

Get an ex-Sky DG834GT from fleabay and re-flash it.
Check out how to do it via Google.....
The latest Netgear firmware definitely supports Annex M - but WHY do you want it?

Re: In need of a new Router

I don't want to be buying 2 Routers in 6 months. So I'd want to be ready for ADSL2+ and the thing I need the most is the upload speed.

Re: In need of a new Router

Well I'm on ADSL2+ using the same DG834GT I used on PlusNet's ADSL-Max.
I'm not using Annex M myself but the latest firmware (which I use) supports it and there are plenty I know of that are.  Wink

Re: In need of a new Router

But of a n00b question from me.
Wouldn't all routers capable of ADSL2+ support Annex M?

Re: In need of a new Router

Definitely not.
You'd think they would, and most new ones will, but you have to check.
Netgear only released AnnexM support on the DG834GT in the February 2008 firmware update.
(and I own a Siemens ADSL2+ router supplied initially by Tiscali that doesn't and never will)
