Identifying Smileys

I hope this is the right place to post my query.
At home on my Windows XP desktop when I hover over  the smileys when composing a post I get a little message telling me what the smiley is, i.e.grin,angry etc.
On my laptop using Vista this doesn't happen. I simply get a small blank box.
Is there a setting that switches this facility on?  Undecided

Re: Identifying Smileys

Using FF 3.6.22, This is the same as I'm using on the desktop.  Only difference is that the laptop is Vista and the desktop is XP.

Re: Identifying Smileys

Hi artmo,
Been doing a bit of googling. I suspect this problem is caused by a profile setting. I'm using FF 6.0.2 (on Vista) so not sure if this works on FF 3.6 but…
If I open a new tab and type about:config in the address box, press enter and promise to be careful I get a list of preferences. Highlighted ones are those which the user has set.
One of the preferences is browser.chrome.toolbar_tips where I have the default setting, which is true and tool-tips work. Is yours user set and false? If it is, right-click the line and select toggle which should change it to true. There doesn't appear to be an "OK" button at the bottom of the page so I assume either the change takes place immediately, or perhaps next time FF is started. Hopefully tool-tips will then appear.
Fingers crossed Tongue

Re: Identifying Smileys

Win 7 labels some smilies but not others for some reason. Both Cheesy grins OK but no others used in these posts!

Re: Identifying Smileys

spraxyt, thanks for your reply. Followed your instructions and it was already showing true.  I unchecked it and then rechecked it to true in case but no luck. It is showing default - boolean - true. This seems an odd one.  When I hover over an icon all I get is a small blank box.
