Anyone tell me what "IP tunnelling to NAS for 0808 Dialup Pools" is?

Re: IP addresses

seems to be a description given to a range of IP addresses:
http://fr.wikiscan.org/plage-ip/81.174.202.0/24?whois=81.174.202.0/24
yours happens to fall into this.

Re: IP addresses

Well, this IP range appears to be "permanently blocked" by Whois-Search for overuse! I can't lookup anything!
That's how I came to notice it.
Funny tho, that the CPanel on my websites report that my login IP is a 46.208.*.* number.
Don't get it!

Re: IP addresses

If I post using Chrome on my android tablet (Nexus 7) the IP shown as the source is that from a Google compression proxy that intercepts my HTTP request, passes it on to the server, then compresses the server response and returns it to me). So I imagine  that 81.174.*.* IP is a proxy.
It's possibly blocked by Whois-Search because lots of users present that proxy IP when doing searches.

Re: IP addresses

Reminds me I used to get that on a nokia phone.
Yes, looks that way. Don't understand why I'm getting this 'tunnelling' proxy tho.
(The two instances here are from same computer/browser, btw)
Could be CPanel is storing a previous IP and not caught up yet?
The French whois Dvorak linked to works fine for me tho, so I'll be using that!  Wink

Re: IP addresses

When I posted the previous replies I hadn't realised that 81.174 range belongs to Plusnet. So I doubt your IP is a proxy. The reverse DNS information given will be what the range was initially used for so the reference to tunnelling shouldn't be taken literally. I assume it is now in the pools of dynamic IPs that are allocated to users. So that really is your IP,
How often do you log into and out of CPanel? I wondered if that records your IP only when you login.

Re: IP addresses

Ah, ok. I see.
Usually log in to CPanel every day. Couple of times maybe. Its usually there that I notice if the IP has changed.
It changed recently after a power outage and is still showing that IP, not this newer 81.174. one. See if it changes tomorrow.
Only problem was being blocked on WhoisSearch! ("Permanently" apparently! Seems a bit harsh?)

Re: IP addresses

I have a static IP and Whois-search permanently blocked it after I left it open in a tab for a while. However the block was removed a few days after I closed the tab. It's possible the block results from the activities of the previous user of the IP.

Re: IP addresses

So looks like CPanel has glitch. Its still showing previous IP address.
As for whois. Domain-Tools-whois also ok so no problem
(The error on whois-search seemed to come from RIPE saying " access denied for 2001:41d0:2:bd26:00:0:0:1". Don't know what that means. Is it IPv6-speak or something?)

Re: IP addresses

That is an IPv6 IP which based on an IPv6 info lookup at UltraTools might be mail.eurekahosting.net. However I'm well beyond my comfort zone here.

Re: IP addresses

Ah! Well, just happens I know OVH SAS (188.165.*.*) is hosting for the Whois-Search.
So, "access denied for 2001:41d0:2:bd26:00:0:0:1" refers to them!
