IE 8 problem

I have installed Internet Explorer 8. I'm using Avast (free version) as my Anti-virus and a free firewall by Sunbelt.
I can get internet access OK (after a lot of time wasted looking for drivers!).
My problem is that there are some sites that I access a lot where I cannot see any buttons or photographs. Could this be something to do with my firewall settings, or is it some adjustment that I need to make to the Anti-virus software?
Help appreciated.

where I store photos, and
http://www.surreymothing.blogspot.com/
which also has some of my photos that I cannot see.
Even loading this thread took for ever and then it said 'done but with errors on page'.

BTW I find this forum incredibly slow to load. It makes it almost unusable in terms of looking at other people's threads. Is this a general problem or just me? Is it my firewall causing more problems?

Fewer compatibility problems, faster web browsing, and the benefit of plugins such as "Adblock Plus".

Quote from: thisoldman hi albert. its nowt to do with your fwall. its an ie 8 compatibility issue. open ie click on tools compatibility then add web sites you want esp plus net
my fee?
Strange, because changing the firewall settings seemed to make a difference - to start with at least. But I've done what you suggest and ticked 'compatibility view' for the Surreymothing blog and I cannot get the photos to display. Maybe I need to re-refresh it. I'll experiment.

I had Firefox with Noscript and Adblock before I had to reinstall Windows XP (thanks to some malware). I found all the script blocking a bit stressful as I never knew what to allow and what not to allow

Well I've installed Firefox and the situation is no better (except that I cannot see the little red 'x's in the photos that don't upload.
Could someone else have a look at http://www.surreymothing.blogspot.com/ and see if it works for them?
Also, this forum is still incredibly slow.
So I think the problem is to do with Sunbelt Personal Firewall.
