Howto block access to iGoogle?

I'd like to totally block access to iGoogle - whilst still allowing access to ordinary Google.
iGoogle allows all sorts of rubbish, including user configured access to any external sites, so it seems that it's a bit of a malware paradise, not to mention as a presentation of all the latest acquisitions of Google - youtube etc.
Unfortunately, both variants appear to use the same host address.
Does anyone know how to cure this situation - e.g. do iGoogle and Google use the same ports?

Re: Howto block access to iGoogle?

in your host file put
127.0.0.1  igoogle.com
127.0.0.1  66.249.93.104
the host file is
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
just open with notepad

Re: Howto block access to iGoogle?

Nice try Samuri! Smiley
I'm actually using Linux - but the hosts file works in exactly the same way.
Anyway, although I give a homepage of www.google.com, I get redirected to www.google.co.uk
I think google is trying to force igoogle on us via the demands of the video generation. Sorry to say, but your suggestion is insufficient.

If you have a netgear router or Vista you could probably put
http://www.google.com/ig in the child protection filter Smiley

I have a netgear router so it's doable.
However it appears to be necessary to block
http://www.google.com/ig and
http://www.google.co.uk/ig
Very devious huh?
