Hello, I would like to purchase a domain and would like that domain name to point to my changing home WAN IP address. I do not want to host web pages, but use it for other purposes - VPN etc. I do not want to use DynDNS and the like. Is it possible?

Yep - so long as you have a Fixed IP.
