How much of your usage will VOIP take up?

FMI how many megs or gigs does, say, 100 mins using a BB phone take up of one's permitted usage? Does it vary for incoming/ outgoing?
No one has to agree with my opinion, but in the time I have left a miracle would be nice.

Re: How much of your usage will VOIP take up?

You're generally looking at under 128Kbps for a call.  So it depends on how long you're actually on the 'phone for.

So if my maths are OK, 100 minutes uses less than 1GB.

Re: How much of your usage will VOIP take up?

Going with 64Kbps, I come with 28.8MB an hour.
So, a little bit less Smiley

Re: How much of your usage will VOIP take up?

so 250 free minutes is not free then?
Mind you on my account I can make calls free 0:00 to 16:00!!!
I just wish we could get a normal number instead of a 08 number so friends and family could phone me at normal rates.  Are plusnet going to change this soon?

Definitely something we're looking into currently.
We should have some further information before too long.

Re: How much of your usage will VOIP take up?

it's a service addon - whether or not it is truely free is unclear, however i don't see PN asking me for the cost which is involved in going from internet to landline.
okay so it used a small bit of your bandwidth - if you use it after 12 then it does but that's also free.

Re: How much of your usage will VOIP take up?

I registered with Sipgate at https://secure.sipgate.co.uk/user/index.php
I had the choice of 100's of UK landline area codes from almost every part of the UK to choose from
It was totally free and even better, I can setup an outgoing message and have a virtual answerphone service.
Messages can be retreived online and sent to me by email.
The only thing you have to pay for is outgoing calls. You can make toll free (0800) calls for free as well
