How do you clean out Systray notifications?

While sorting out a problem with my Systray (the hide/show hidden icons arrow was missing [now fixed]), I found this:

I no longer use half of what's listed in there, in fact most of them were uninstalled long ago.
How do you clear them out? I'm guessing it's a registry hack somewhere. I'm not afraid of going into the registry, I do it all the time when an uninstall fails to remove keys.
Any ideas?

At your own risk
# Fire up regedit by pressing the Windows Key. Key in “regedit” in the Start Search bar and press Enter.
# Look up HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify
# In the list, you would see values named IconStreams and PastIconsStream
, delete them

I couldn't find that registry key, but seeing as I have CC installed I followed the guide in the link.
