How did you install/download "damnvid" - was it via a package manager?

Re: How do I get rid of .......

Not exactly sure.... first "try" was via a "terminal" script  from  a website... (can`t find it now !! !)... but did not find it after all the scripts finished, so I think I downloaded it again from www.giveawayof theday.com
Then had a problem actually finding it in the Applications list... but did eventually find the icon and put that on my desktop

Re: How do I get rid of .......

This looks like some Windows site????
You downloaded some untrusted software (and) presumably installed it with a script.
This is basically why Windows ends up with a load of random c**p.
If you right click the icon on your desktop(?) and click on properties what do you see?
Is it anything like

Re: How do I get rid of .......

No... it looks "linuxy" ... Undecided and has Command /usr/bin/damnvid as one of the boxes on there (with 281bytes & desktop configuration file)

Re: How do I get rid of .......

Ok on the web page it is listed as a todo on how to uninstall in Linux  Crazy
Web page is here (https://code.google.com/p/damnvid/wiki/Help)
@Shutter did you use the ppa to install it? If you did you should be able to do
apt remove damnvid
to remove it then remove the ppa using synaptic.

Re: How do I get rid of .......

If you installed it via some script which deleted itself, then you are going to have to track down each and every component if you want to fully delete it.
Or you can run two programs:-
sudo /usr/bin/updatedb.mlocate
(and enter your password)
This will take several minutes to run the first time you run it - it builds a compressed list of all the filenames on your PC.
Then type
locate string
where string is a sequence of characters such as damnvid etc
All files or directories which contain that string will be listed.
You can selectively delete the files....  Grin
I bet you will be left with a lot of disconnected rubbish though.
I auto-run that first command on a daily basis (it is much faster after the first run).

Gawd 2WHOLE min to boot and get on-line you need a faster disk!  Cheesy
Glad you have got rid of it, but from now on please only install from ppa's or the repository so that you can remove using Synaptic easily.
