How Do I Access E-Mails From My Former IP?

I am a newcomer to BB.
I require guidance on how to access my e-mails from my former Tiscali mailbox (dial up) via my Plusnet BB connection.
I use Outlook Express
Thanks

i don't know if this is any help but these are the settings i used to use when accessing my old Freeserve account - just change the Freeserve bit to what you use on Tiscali

Re: How Do I Access E-Mails From My Former IP?

I would have expected you to be able to collect email from Tiscali without any changes - your Plusnet settings should have been added as a new email account in OE. What I wouldn't expect would be for you to be able to send email via Tiscali.

Re: How Do I Access E-Mails From My Former IP?

Many thanks for your replies.
I initially used the link which was helpful, then after pottering about, I realised how thick I was being.  Oldjim's and James's replies made me check the OE settings.  Being absolutely a novice to BB, it did not occur to me to change access via LAN.  Now all is well apart from obviously not being able to send e-mails through that account, as was said.
I have a second problem, however.  I cannot open any second page on IE7, it simply freezes each time.  This is not the case with Firefox.  Any thoughts?

Then stick to FireFox.
It is much more reliable and is not full of security holes.
On my other PC (Windows) my IE7 shortcut is in "deleted shortcuts".

Re: How Do I Access E-Mails From My Former IP?

To send a message from your Tiscali account you need to edit the settings for that account in OE and change the outgoing server to the PlusNet one, i.e. relay.plus.net (as shown in Oldjims screen shots above).
Basically you can receive mail from any POP3 or IMAP account but (unless you use an authenticated SMTP server) you can only send using the outgoing SMTP server of the ISP you're connected to.

I just tried that tip by Oldjim and it worked for sending also.  I did not know that you could do that.  This was a great help.
