Hot CPU is hot..

Okay,
So I've just ordered one of these: http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/info_26027.html
My record temp at the moment is 81 Degrees lol.
What's the highest other people have had?
I'm running an AMD FX-8100 Bulldozer
Hopefully the new CPU Cooler should do the trick....
EDIT: Uploaded attachment of the current idle temp... (Temp1)

Re: Hot CPU is hot..

Water cooling is much more effective than massive heatsinks, but more expensive and harder to fit. I played with WC back when I was into overclocking procs. Now I just run stock  Sad

Now thats a BEAST of a cooler  Cheesy Cheesy

I couldn't believe the size of it Ron when I took it out of the box, I didn't think my case would be wide enough. It can take another 2 x 120mm fans, one at the front and one at the back for push, pull, but I bought high profile memory and the front 120mm doesn't clear the memory so I have to have it offset which then makes it stick out of the side of my case so I couldn't get the side panel on. Sad
Thinking of buying a EATX case, maybe a NZXT 530 when they are released next month, then I can fit the other 2 fans and try for 4.6. This weather is no good at the moment though for temps. Inside my case is usually around 20c, and around 23c when gaming but with this heatwave it is getting up to 27c and over 30c when gaming, which is pushing my CPU temps (according to Real Temp) from 55c up to 60c.
I wouldn't mind trying Water cooling at some point, Hairy Biker, I spend nearly as much time in my BIOS than I do gaming, pretty happy with the 4.5 Oc on air though.

Re: Hot CPU is hot..

Try something like an H100 or H80 first, those are actually pretty good and a LOT less hassle than doing your own custom loop. It's worth it though Cheesy

Re: Hot CPU is hot..

they should be around 29-40 degrees depending on other circumstances such as the heat environment, the only time i've had silly temperatures i a poor quality heatsink and fan in the past then it went up to around 72-75 degrees, anyway the bios should be set so the pc shuts down before anything happens.

Re: Hot CPU is hot..

81C isn't too bad, I had one machine that used to hit 84C daily.
Yes it did worry me a fair bit but it was reliable.
I need a new signature... i'm bored of the old one!

Re: Hot CPU is hot..

@ Matt, I was looking at a AIO swiftech H220, but I have been waiitng for them for nearly 8 months to come to England. Even the main Swiftech site has been out of stock for as long. I can't understand how they can put videos out and never have any stock. Then I was going to get the Kraken X60, but even though my case has 2 x 140mm top fans, the lid only has about 10mm clearance, so it would mean the radiator or the fans (whichever way I decided to have it) would be exposed. The NZXT 530 case I am thinking of getting is a full tower, so whichever way I decide to go in the future, the case will be able to accommodate it.

Looks a bit plasticy but the red will go with my ROG board.
