Help needed with Apple Mail

I have just updated to the new apple system.  I have performed a clean install after re-formating my drive.  I can now download email, but not send it.  I have set my Outgoing Mail Server to relay.plus.net.
Mail Connection Doctor is telling me it is all connected, but Mail will still not let me send out email.
Can anyone help???

Thanks PJ. I have checked the settings and I have no authentication and the server port is 25 (not sure what that is).  I have checked my settings with another Mac user on Plus Net and we have the settings.  Still not working.

What error message are you actually getting when you try to send email?

oops, you know when you keep looking at something, pulling your hair out. You then spot a stupid mistake. Get your own email address correct to start with, and emails go out. I hang my head in shame.
