Help needed, unable to send emails with mac mail

I have just set up my macbook and am unable to send mail,
incomming is ok but outgoing is saying offline?
am on port 25 no ss,l pwd is as on squirrel mial but no joy...

What email application are you using and what happens when you try and send email? Do you get any error messages?
