I noticed someone on You Tube opening up the back of the Hudl with a Stanley knife blade it seemed easy but you would have to be careful not to crack the case, this will be fine to do if you are able to replace the battery.

I think the external battery will be the preferred option for myself, but then in 3 years, or even 3 months, there will be updated versions of the hudl, and my present one would become a hot spare.
So far, loving it, no problems at all.

Hope you enabled disk encryption before you started using it?

Thanks.
I was aware of this
And also this...
"If you sell or dispose of your device, we recommend you enable encryption on your device and apply a factory reset beforehand,"
With all my electronic devices, I erase then fully load any storage with large nondescript files, then do a secure erase.
My hudl wil mostly be used for backup TV watching & BBC iPlayer downloads anyway.
I will not be taking, nor storing Photo's on it.
I will not be accessing any websites requiring personal data.
In fact I find the screen and fonts too small to be of any use to myself, in Chrome or Firefox.
There are apps to totally wipe securely all data
Currently I have Secure Wipe installed
I also already have Lookout Mobile Security installed.
Others include Secure Erase with iShredder 3, Secure delete
and...
https://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en-GB&source=hp&q=android+secure+erase+data&btnG=Google+Search&gw...
Current iOS devices are also vulnerable, some undisclosed features in the iOS operating system bypass the data encryption system running on the device, if an iPhone was caught at the right time it becomes possible to extract information

I must say I am very pleased with my hudl mk1.
Around 8+ hours battery life, no unstable wi-fi connections, and not a single problem.

I was going to get one of these but then I bought 12 months of Mail Plus and didn't know until it arrived that I got a free 16GB Wifi Kindle Fire HD
So I use that but will look at this when the Ipad dies.
