HP laptop

Just a quickie i hope , was asked to do a factory reset on a HP pavilion G6 win 8 .
started at 15.00 today ,,,,,,,,, only done 24%  is this normal i have read some take up to  6 hours

I retired to bed at 23.00 and was still running 
awoke this morning ,,,,,,,,,, it had completed
dont know if this is just normal for HP or is another reason to hate win8

Personally I'd do a hard drive surface scan and make sure there weren't any bad sectors. Often when something takes excessive amounts of time it is because of hard drive damage.

I did one the other day on a 6month old HP laptop and it was completed in just less than an hour, so certainly doesn't seem normal from either HP or Windows 8.

It should not have taken anything like the time it did.  Report back the extreme time it took to whoever asked you to do the reset and they should conclude that the hard drive is faulty.

have taken it back    noted to her it took too long and there is a problem with the HD

HP and COMPAQ can bake their hard drives if you are not careful.  I've baked two in mine, so my laptop now always sits on top of a fan cooler.
