I'm a bit more suspicious - ulterior motive maybe? (Thinking about the Google OS). Also, I just can't quite believe that they can really ditch MS throughout the organisation.

Why not, they are aiming for 100% cloud computing, all the apps live in the cloud, fine when you are sitting next to it But not so good for us who may or may not have an internet connection or one that is 2G or dial up?
What apps do M$ supply that they cant do with out?
Exchange - they have Gmail
Word/Excel - Google Web apps
Also they suggest that they can opt for Mac or Linux, so most of the "expensive" apps are already on OSx (Like photoshop etc)
I have been 99.9% without M$ software for nearly 3 years as a normal user, so as Google they have much more money and availability to scale what they need, if I could afford a new printer (or Turboprint) then I would be 100% free of M$ s/w.
