A very impressive write up in The Full Circle Magazine. Apparently it's linked to Ubuntu development and will update inline with Ubuntu.
Download and read all about it, issue 52 out now

Great Magazine with lots of useful information.
What's the best source to get the DVD mentioned in one article ?
It’s available in both 32 and 64-bit
as a live DVD with Gnome or Xfce.
The purpose of LMDE is to look
identical to the main edition and
to provide the same functionality
while using Debian as a base.
The Above relates to Mint 11

Sound like overpriced netbooks to me; I think there was an expectation, in some quarters at least, that, with the Google name behind it, they'd be churned out in a cheap and cheerful fashion.
Early days, yet, I suppose.

LMDE is good if you want a Debian based spin but retain some of the Mint extras. I have it running now on my EEE which is used for the odd torrent and (mostly) sabnbzd downloads. (News groups) I wanted a rolling release on there to save having to update it every year or so.
I am tempted to try it on this box but I have several "Ubuntu ppa's" that may fall over if I use it may drop it into a VM and play there.
WRT Chromebooks well if you have FULL internet coverage (wifi and good 3g) then maybe but I like my data/programs being HERE and being able to install what I want not only what will run in a browser.
