Garmin 2408 SatNav query

Just updated my Garmin 2408 satnav... and it is showing that it is now 70% full with 500MB space left..
what happens when that is full? presumably it fills up with the "updates"... ?
Will re-installing the Map bring it up todate and give more space ?

Have you installed a microSD card?
Re-installing the maps won't hurt, I did it on my Garmin.

no I havent inserted a SD card....
But will re-installing the map(s) just re-install the original, or will it install an updated version... which .... presumably would free up space.

I use a Garmin Montana, it has a habit of storing all my "tracks" - i.e. every route I've taken since day one, by copying each file to a sub-directory ( a file is created and saved each time I turn the Garmin off).
Every now and then I delete the old "tracks",

@shutter If you are using Garmin Express it should install the latest map set.

Yes, I am using Garmin Express....
does the files of previous routes/journeys show up on laptop, when plugged in for updates... i.e on "my computer"  ?

Yes, under the Garmin:Garmin>GPX>Archive directory as GPX files
(might be different) ...................... under win 7 each SD card appears as a different drive with the internal memory as a drive
