News at 10 - Cyber attacks from Ukraine

I see all the news programmes are going mad about the latest cyber attack and that we should be alarmed. They're not saying what to do, other than go to a website called "getsafeonline", but unfortunately that has crashed.
Other than making sure Mcaffe is up to date and a has scanned the computer fully and not opening email attachments that are not familiar are there any other things we should be doing. The antivirus is free with plusnet so we always know that is up to date.

And the next news article will be warning about bogus emails / popups / telephone calls telling you your computer has a virus...  Roll_eyes

So, we just wait to hear from Plus Net?

Only a very small number of Plusnet customers have been infected and we've already emailed those customers yesterday.

Re: Gameover Zeus

That's very comforting. Thanks Chris !
Just in passing, a programme called Cryptoprevent  (at FoolishIT.com) claims to protect against Cryptolocker.

Re: Gameover Zeus

There is nothing new about the viruses being publicised, they have been around for months now.  What is new is that the authorities have made a concerted effort to crack-down on those responsible.

Does it require the intervention of a foreign intelligence agency for Plusnet to protect (potential)
vulnerable folk from being exploited? Or any ISP for that matter to take action and pass on information
that they already have or are aware of?
