Re: Gadget of the Decade

For me - the iPod.
Completely revolutionised the music industry and how people come across and use music.

Re: Gadget of the Decade

Doesn't have my favorite gadget, a sony ebook reader.
Great toy/gadget. I have over 200 books on it and can bookmark any and continue reading at any time, battery life is in the region of 4 weeks (of nearly continuous use) Looks like a real paperback when reading and unlike normal paper you can zoom the page if the text is too small.
Only had mine for about 4 weeks now (got it as an early birthday present) but must have read about 20 books on it.  Grin

a mechanical contrivance or device; any ingenious article.

There's only one thing in the list I would call a gadget - the Gorillapod.

Re: Gadget of the Decade

Indeed, serious lack of real "gadgets" there.
e.g. where's the USB-powered keyboard vacuum cleaner for a start!  Grin
(and I voted for the flash drive too, but it's not really a "gadget" is it?)
Gadgets have to have a certain  "hey that's clever" about them but should be relatively cheap and generally not that useful once the novelty has worn off.
But then there's the clockwork radio.......  Wink

Re: Gadget of the Decade

Two things I didn't see when I glanced down the list and can't be arsed looking again are Satnav and Bluetooth. I have satnav on my mobile phone linked to a bluetooth gps reciever. Amazes me every time I use it.
