Re: FormMail on Plusnet Webspace

I see this in Chrome

And I see this in Edge:

It doesn't mean your website is unsafe, it does mean that it doesn't have a security certificate though. Traditionally, only places you were going to put your financial details into were encrypted (for obvious reasons), but recently the search engines have been marking every site not holding a https certificate as "unsafe" and reducing search engine rankings as a result. There is nothing intrinsically wrong with your page, the survey page opens in https, so any information entered is safe. Unless Plusnet offer SSL as a part of the package, i'm afraid there is nothing you can do, except move the site to a host who does. Or, in your email, you can state that no personal information is collected on the non https site (or words to that effect).

Re: FormMail on Plusnet Webspace

Thanks for the explanation.  According to Plusnet, I should be apply SSL by setting the Host name as https://homepages.plus.net/username to make it secure, but that does not seem to work.  It still remains insecure.

The problem is that the reports I have been getting is that some people cannot seem to access the website at all.  Any ideas ?  Thanks so much.

Could it be the re- direct you have from your domain to the PN pages? I believe if you ask them, the nameservers can be pointed to PN, which would mean the enquiry would show under your domain at all times and not the PN one.

Also says SSL won't work on https://www.username.plus.com, it has to be https://homepages.plus.net/username. Looks like yours is the first one, so SSL won't work.

Thanks for the offer.  But first, the problem is not with the Survey Monkey survey.  It is with my website which is :

www.blockedbyice.com

For your info, this website concerns a passenger pressure group on a Hurtigruten cruise to go through the North

I clicked on the link [http://www.blockedbyice.com/] (in this forum) using Linux Firefox.

Works fine - it doesn't show the http (probably some default) & it does show the https on the monkey-survey thing.

In short - it works fine in Firefox. Smiley

I think you have found the cause perhaps.  I normally cloak my server on my websites and thought I had this time but it appears that I had not.  So I went into the settings for blockedbyice.com and cloaked the webpage, so that it just gives blockedbyice.com as the URL, and since then I have had no more complaints.  Fingers crossed.

So very grateful for pointing that out.
