The Mozilla Foundation has has given the world the fifty-second version of the Firefox browser, complete with some significant changes.
Most notable is the eviction of plug-ins. The browser will now only run Flash. Anything else reliant on the Netscape Plugin API (NPAPI) is now verboten. Which means Silverlight, Java and Acrobat are gone, daddy, gone.
To ease the passing of plugins, Firefox has added support for the WebAssembly client-side scripting environment. Mozilla says WebAssembly “brings near-native performance to Web-based games, apps, and software libraries without the use of plugins.”
The second big change is the addition of significant warnings when Firefox visits web sites that don't run HTTPS.
So how do you open a pdf file in the browser and what about all the little websites which aren't https because they have absolutely no need to

All sounds good to me and with SHA-1 being broken they’ve also removed (disabled actually) support for SHA-1 signatures in digital certificates too.

Firefox has had its own built-in PDF viewer for quite some time now. I prefer to just download PDFs anyway.

If you want a version of Firefox that actually works, try Pale Moon, they took Firefox, restored the original interface layout, optimised some code here and there, and resulted in a pretty decent browser that'll run many Firefox plugins which are now defunct in Firefox 52...

agreed to an extent but if they had removed it there would have been a mass exodus of users given the number of sites which are still in the dark ages
