IIRC avi is a container format rather than a format in itself. Wouldn't surprise me if mov is as well.

Save as .jpeg
(You can vary the quality up to 50kb in this example)

.jpeg
If you set .png info to default open in Preview, all it takes is a double click to open in Preview.
(It shows in B&W)
