Suddenly this morning, after replacing a couple of memory sticks, the monitor is not showing anything when I switch on except "Not Connected"
I have tried one other monitor and two other graphic slots without any pictures coming up.
anybody any previous similar?

Quote from: PJ Does the machine make any beeps as it starts? If not, do the fans start and does the HDD activity light flash as the machine starts- i.e. does it sound normal? Are you using a AGP or PCI-E graphics card or onboard VGA?
No beeps......fans start.......green light flashes on HDD but red light comes on briefly then stays out.......sounds normal........using PCI graphics card......also has onboard VGA.....
cheers

I simply leave the mains plugged in and touch the chassis. Not died so far

Have you reseated everything that goes in a connector.....cards, cables etc.
Quite often the act of inserting one thing unseats something else.
Are there any lights on the motherboard?

Yes I always carefully re-seat all cables and cards...but there are no lights on the motherboard...never ever seen them!!!

It's best if it is plugged in to switched socket so that you can turn the power off - the point being that the earth is still connected.

Sorry....forgot to mention that
...and not all motherboards have tell-tale lights.

One runs from the onboard graphics to an older monitor, the other from a new graphics card to a new flatscreen monitor and both methods produce the "not connected" notice.
I fear it is a problem with the HD.........
