Failed Update

Re: Failed Update

Have checked and found that the reason it won't update is because previous ones failed too (did not get any warning of this).
I have attached a snip of the failures.
I have looked at the link and am terrified of using the clean up tool in case it goes badly and messes my machine up.
The blog does contain a caveat.
I would rather repair it if possible but any other ideas most welcome.
I have run Kaspersky vulnerability scan and it is not showing up so I am wondering just how important this really is.
If I can do without .NET I will just leave and forget about it.

Re: Failed Update

Looking at your Screenshot, The bottom of It It looks like you have net framework? Anybody clarify that?

Re: Failed Update

Yes, it was successful - it is the stuff that came afterwards that seems to have failed.

Re: Failed Update

Try this...http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058 And then see If they fail.
Edit, At the end of the day don't lose any sleep over It, Windows 7 Service pack 1 will be with us soon, You will get them all with that.

Re: Failed Update

i've left it hidden
on my pc
if you delete net framework , when you reboot
your pc is likely to be missing files and the pc will shut down
ad infinitude
my pc works with out the update
however this update is over a security issue  in the previous version of net framework
only problem is the update wont install over the last update
it has to be removed to install this latest update
dont remove it , and install the update  until more is known
perhaps microsoft will update the update  as it fails to install

Thank you Steve - that is just what I wanted to hear.  Going to leave it for now.

Re: Failed Update

if you do remove it
and it boots into your desktop
and all your programs work ok
then just download the single 'exe file '
to then re install its upgrade
but back up your entire drive before using the clean tool from ms
i'm trying to install  the same update as poppy
but cant

Re: Failed Update

After initially failing again this morning, Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile for Windows 7x64-based Systems (KB982670) has now installed successfully (second attempt).
