Re: EyeTV DTT?....Anybody familiar?

I've had a freecom USB receiver for a year or so now and I would say it's OK.
It can be quite CPU intensive.
It does need to be wired up to your external aerial though, the only time I had had some success with the aerial you get with it is when I'm in the office.
I dangled it out of my 4th floor window in the middle of London.

Re: EyeTV DTT?....Anybody familiar?

Thanks for your reply..
I got the initial info from  http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2008/11/26/review_tv_tuner_mac_elgato_eyetv_dtt/
which is about the gadget which is only for MAC,
Does the freecom usb receiver work on PC's?

Re: EyeTV DTT?....Anybody familiar?

We have an EyeTV DTT on the iMac downstairs; it is indeed only for Macs.

@Samuria
When you say it is good, do you speak from personal use?
I noted that the link to the trader said they were out of stock, unfortunately, but I assume they are available elsewhere.
Am I right in thinking that the gadget does not need any other aid ..like a card installed?
cheers

Re: EyeTV DTT?....Anybody familiar?

Usually just a matter of installing the software, plugging in the USB device and allowing it to be detected and installed. Then plug in an antenna and scan for available channels. This was the case with the Freecom DVB-T USB Stick I have. It also picks up a surprising number of channels using just the supplied mini antenna in a decent signal area.
Personally I have a Hauppauge Dual Tuner DVB card installed which allows me to view one channel while I record another or even record two channels simultaneously.

Re: EyeTV DTT?....Anybody familiar?

@strat
I have just searched Ebay and found on offer a Hauppauge NOVAT500 (used) which requires PCIEx slot.Fortunately I have this slot available, so I have looked at the New Price from Hauppauge and compared .
The new price is £53inclvat. I will perhaps make my bid with this in mind. Thanks for your info.
cheers

I bought my card here and you can read customer reviews here.
