Encoding streamed media

I am wanting to capture streamed audio into a file. On my XP machine I was able to do this using Microsoft WM Encoder 9. I am now working on a laptop with Vista Home Edition and WM Encode generates errors. Can anybody recommend a free alternative to WM Encoder that will run on a Vista machine?
Thanks,
Chris.

Re: Encoding streamed media

Have you tried google - M$ say "You may experience issues when you use Windows Media Encoder 9 Series on a computer that is running Windows Vista".
There is a patch on their site.

"In The Beginning Was The Word, And The Word Was Aardvark."

Re: Encoding streamed media

Have you tried searching the tools section of http://www.videohelp.com/
You can use the filters so you only look at the free options if you wish, and there will be full reviews to make sure whatever you get, does what you want.
