Re: Enabling printer on ubuntu

Does your printer have a static ip address?
It makes it easier to know if you can see it or not.
You can always allocate a name in your /etc/hosts file.

Re: Enabling printer on ubuntu

Must admit I have never tried installing a wifi printer.
Assumptions:-
Your lt is connected somehow to the same network (wifi or cable)
Your printer is on and has an ip address, maybe something you could print on it like a status page will show this.
Open Admin/Printing
Select New
Select Network Printer
Select HP/JetDirect (OR try HP Printer)
Under host enter the ip address found above
If that fails try the Ubuntu Forums there may be someone who has the same printer.

Re: Enabling printer on ubuntu

Hi, Mike, and welcome to the forums.
May I suggest, however, and in the gentlest way possible, that it is probably not worth responding to a thread three months after the problem has been solved  Smiley
