Email question

Having recently been forced to buy a new computer (following a “crash!), I’m slowly getting back to all the favourite little proggies that I had previously. The last one is “MSGTAG” which is notifies you when an email you’ve sent has been read.
For it to run / work properly with Vista, you have to make a change to the SMTP Server setting in the email program thus: “Windows Vista users should make sure that the SMTP Server setting in their email program is updated from "localhost" to "127.0.0.1" so that the new Vista Mail works with MSGTAG.”
Can anyone advise - is it OK for me to do this – or could it cause other problems?
Thanks
John

Re: Email question

Don't know if this will help but I have my server settings on 127.0.0.1 in Windows Mail. This is due to using the AVG e-mail scanner.  It works fine.  Someone on the forums did explain it to me but I couldn't really understand it I'm afraid.  As long as it works, I'm happy.

Re: Email question

Thanks poppy for the prompt reply - much appreciated.
If it's good enough for you - then it's certainly good enough for me!  Smiley
Sets off to do a bit of tweaking . . . . !  Cheesy
