Ebooks & ipad.

Have a first generation kindle reader and a number of ebooks on cd.

Is there any way in which these can be read on a iPad ?

I did read somewhere that Amazon had changed the format so only books purchased and downloaded from Amazon could be read on a iPad.

Have downloaded the kindle app to the iPad, as expected windows does not recognise iOS but Linux mint does however being different systems it will not allow any transfer of files.

I have calibre so can change format of books.

Is it possible to even do something like this ?

I have seen paid software advertised that claims to do this but do not want to go down that route.

@gleneagles - You can email them to your Kindle email account and you'll find that address by going to

Your Account > Manage Content and Devices

and from there the Preferences Tab and the address should be in Personal Document Settings.

Fix

@gleneagles I don't read Kindle books on my iPad very often as I have a Kindle e-reader for that purpose, but as I like to keep the odd one on it for emergencies, I use : https://www.amazon.com/gp/sendtokindle to move the odd one from my PC 'Library' to the Kindle app on the iPad - hassle free and fairly quick.

@jab1

Thank you for that link, which sorted it for me.

I tried sending books via email facility on Calibre to the email address showing in the kindle app but without success but your link worked ok.

Thanks for advice from everyone.

Re: Ebooks & ipad.

Glad it sorted it, @gleneagles - it was the first thing (almost) I installed on the iPad as I'm an avid reader (usually crime/thriller books), and the iPad goes with me anytime I'm likely to be away from home for a time - it is boring sat in waiting rooms/cafes &c with nothing to do. 😀

Re: Ebooks & ipad.

As stated this topic is fixed but whilst looking around for a solution I came across iMazing.....

Bit overboard for my needs but allows you to access everything on your iPad or iPhone on your windows PC including full backup.

Only negative thing is it’s a paid program but mentioned as it might be useful to anyone who needs full access to iPad or iphone
