Dust is evil

My SCSI drive in my desktop appeared to fail today.
The system was recognising the HBA BIOS - but couldn't see my disk Cry
I opened the case and the interior was covered in dust (sucked in by the fans).
There was even the remains of a rubber band Smiley
So I hoovered it - tried not to touch the motherboard.
Then blew the dust I couldn't reach out of the case - tried not to spit on it.
I know I should never do either of the above things.

Everything is back to normal now.  Smiley Smiley Smiley

Re: Dust is evil

Gotta watch that stuff.
Just after building my PC, I had it standing on a wooden board on the floor under the desk. Pretty soon the temps started going up and up and after a couple weeks I took the side off. I thought the pigmys had moved in and had carpets fitted. Got myself an old chrome music center stand from the car-boot and keep the PC on that now. Just clean out every few months now.

Re: Dust is evil

Legally Hoover is a trademark but has entered popular culture as a generic term.
Yes I think Jeremy should change his display name to dustofevil as Dubya is now out of the White House.  Smiley

According to Wikipedia, Google can also refer to:-
1) a fictional monster in The Google Book, a 1913 children's story
2) Barney Google, a comic strip created in 1919 and its protagonist

Re: Dust is evil

Its funny modern boards how they dont like it. I used to work for ICI and in the old 486, 8080 type of computers we used to go into the factory which made Ammonia, soda ash, bicarb etc and you would open a pc and you couldnt see the MB for powder but they kept going. In the old days pc's didnt have fans and didnt need the cooling the same

Xerox!! Can't  agree with that - far too American, and thus cannot be deemed 'proper' English.  Grin
