I'm using ConvertXtoDVD 2.99.13.900 which has always worked well enough in the past.
The error message I get is:
write error at 2256(16) - code 03 73 03 [medium error, power callibration fail (CD Burner is dirty)]
Now I'm assuming 'dirty' means unclean in a 'dusty' kind of way which I'm hoping can be rectified easily.
Does anyone have suggestions as to how I can clean my 'dirty' burner. Is there a something physical I need to insert in the drive or perhaps a piece of software to run.
Maybe you'll tell me to stay well clear of ConvertXtoDVD.

Quote from: HPsauce Given the price of drives I'd just buy a new one - under £30?
I think the OP would rather burn DVD`s than money.....

Indeed. And he could well burn a lot more money trying to fix it, compared to replacing it.

Maybe it's worth a try first if there isn't any chance of doing 'real' damage !

Having read another thread somewhere it was suggested that you tend to get rubbishy Discs at the bottom of spindles and I think this was the case.
Thanks anyway !

Don't ask me, it was something I read and it seems to be true.
I'm not complaining, it's saved me having to buy a lens cleaner and even a new drive which someone on here suggested.
The thread where I read this suggested that the manufacturers sometimes 'lose' faulty discs this way.

Early spindles of Discs would often have bad discs because the discs would rotate on the spindle scratching themselves with micro scratches, leading to failures. Nowadays they come shrink wrapped, so it's a lot less common, but it still happens.
