Desks

This very old and tatty...and extremely cluttered desk is really beginning to annoy me.
Where can I find a good selection of desks, aimed at the domestic user (er! cheap would be acceptable as well) rather than aimed at corporate bulk buying please? preferably online.

But I would recommend visiting a store, as some of their stuff looks great in the catalogue, but fails close up inspection.

Re: Desks

Uhmmmm!! I've never been very keen on anything I've seen out of Ikea (except a rather nice simple standard lamp once) Seems to attract those who are suckers for the advertisers clever marketing ploys and displays. Usually end up with sore feet, bruises (from the crowds) a thinner wallet and a garage full of discarded Ikea products. When escorting the much easier to please wife.

Re: Desks

I found the one im using now in argos, iirc it was about £90 two years ago but it is very large and sturdy with lots of nooks crannies & shelves etc and takes two men to move it once put together
Im not gonna supply a pic as its an absolute shambles and i dont think you could even see it  Embarrassed
Well worth a look in there though as they have a good reasonably priced selection

Re: Desks

I also got one of >>these<< from Argos a couple of years ago, very pleased with it, a really solid and decent looking bit of kit.

Re: Desks

My desk also came from Argos - it's a modular system so you can customise it to your needs, and it's very very solid. Here's a link to the corner unit; click on 'How about?' on that page to see a list of other modules in the range.

Re: Desks

I got my desk from Ikea.  I love it, although it needs a bit of a wipe atm Smiley
It's also quite large.

Re: Desks

I've got the same one as Be3G.  I'm currently just sorting out the office (attic!) in my new house and am thinking of getting 2 of these for that.

I imagine that you would make the natural assumption that I was, given my unnaturally high level of intelligence Tongue

Re: Desks

I'm a lefty too, but I always use my right hand to hold a telephone or mouse. I'm not sure why, though it's probably because it leaves my left hand free for writing.

Re: Desks

Strange Wink
I'm actually unnaturally left handed.  My left eye is stronger than my right and hence I use my left hand for things like writing, playing snooker, using the mouse and phone.  I also use it to pick up my spoon (thus killing the rumour that left-handers eat back to front).
I do however, play all sports right handed/footed.
