Data Encryption

Suppose I have some database exports to send to a supplier via the wonderful service that is Royal Mail; what would you recommend as the best way for me to encrypt the data on an external HDD before sending?
I imagine a solution where I post an encrypted HDD to them, and either advise them of a password, or email a certificate/key seperately to them.
Any ideas?

Re: Data Encryption

Use TrueCrypt to encrypt the whole volume, using both a password and file as security options.
Send 2 via post, 1 via email
That should be secure enough..

Re: Data Encryption

I spotted the Truecrypt site before posting here - have you got experience using it? Is it fairly reliable/simple?

Re: Data Encryption

I use it at home as a mounted volume for my documents, with the files locally and on a NAS.
For work I use it to send data that has sensitive info.
Never had an issue with it though haven't tried doing a full volume encrypt yet.

Steganos Safe One is very easy to use too. It is a free download which creates a 'new' drive when opened - totally invisible when locked.
I have only used on my PC but I suppose that it would work on external media such as USB stick.
