DNS Problem

DNS connection went down on Sunday morning.... contacted PN by landline who were going to check my line and phone back. In the event they checked the line but e-mailed me back..not sure how I was going to access my e-mail with no dns connection.
Phoned PN Today and there was a message that many lines were down due to some problem with BT.
As of 2pm today everything is up and running fine.

That does sound a bit daft.
Have you set a mobile number in https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=edit_details&s=0 ?
I don't know if they're still doing it but they used to send text messages in response to such issues.

Being a bit of a luddite I don't have a mobile phone..perhaps I am the only person in the country not to have one or more of the things.. but thanks for the link anyway !
The same e-mail did give a free dial up phone number which could be useful if you had a dial up modem but i have no intention of purchasing one on the off chance I may or may not need it.
To be honest this is the only time I have ever had a problem with the internet connection since joining PN about 2 years ago so in all fairness I guess I am doing fairly well when you look at some of the other posts in this forum !

Sorry for the assumption.
I must admit that I hung on for as long as possible before joining the masses with mobiles, I guess that once you have one you soon start to assume that everyone else has one too, though I still cannot get the hang of texting so maybe there's hope for me yet
