When I startup windows the DNS Client (one of the many svchost.exe) takes 100% of cpu and the comp runs at a snails pace. If I end the process I obviously run into other troubles. I can leave it and it sorts itself after a while, but that can be anything from 5-30 mins. Can I use a 3rd party dns client or am i stuck with this one.
It's XP Pro BTW.

Just checked with process explorer and on the threads tab it has "kernel32.dll!CreateThread+0x22" CSwitch Delta=322 using 98% CPU. Checking back 5mins later it had another 6 of these but with no number under CSwitch Delta. After 10 mins they all disappeared then 3 came back with no CSwitch number and using no resources now. Anybody have any clues what's happening?

Just disable it. You don't actually need it!
