Cost of a BT Landline

According to http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/2007/nov/10/moneysupplement.internetphonesbroadband
BT are now charging £125 for a BT connection (even if one is already physically in place). Does this affect PlusNet charges?
This doesn't bother me now - but obviously would if I were to move house.

Re: Cost of a BT Landline

Hi there,
When moving house we have 3 charges depending on what's required.
If the line is active and no renumber is required there is simply and admin fee of £3.
If the line is 'stopped' (present but not active) then we charge £38.75. The same charge applies if a renumber is necessary (if you are moving exchanges).
If there is no line, or the line has been entirely disconnected or moved to an LLU provider, we charge £105.
The latter two charges are simply the cost of the BT Wholesale order, and are cheaper than BT Retail in both cases AFAIK.
Interesting article btw, cheers. Smiley

Yes BT do charge £124.99 for a connection.... Even the engineer who fitted the line said it was robbery, but what can you do.
you have no line at all BT is the ONLY way to get it connected, and the 1st bill arrives within a couple of weeks with your £124.99 plus 3 months line rental.

What would the charge be for re-connecting an existing line that's currently disconnected in my current property.

Re: Cost of a BT Landline

That's new then, it used to be no charge as it's a simple start and not a cease
they used to do free with 3 month contract now it's that with 12 month tie-in
interesting

Thanks but the way I read Mand's missive was that that only applies for a house move.
