Connection dropping probs

Complete novice to the wireless world so feel free to tell me if I've missed something obvious.
Took delivery of my Thomson Gateway wireless router yesterday and set it up fine this morning for my laptop.
Now trying to use the wireless connection on a desktop PC and it only holds the connection for about 5 minutes.
The PC says the strength is excellent, speed 54 mbps but the connection just drops.
Where do I start working out what I'm not doing ?

Re: Connection dropping probs

Is the router dropping the wireless connection or
Is the router dropping the connection with the exchange?
Try a connection using the supplied ethernet cable for a while and watch what happens Cheesy

Re: Connection dropping probs

Can you sit the laptop and the pc next to each other and see if the connection drops on both at the same time?

Re: Connection dropping probs

You can tell if its the router or the exchange by going to the webpage you went to to setup the router if you can reach that then the router is working ok. If you can get the router webpage but cant get onto the internet then its the line dropping.
You should check to see if there is another station near you using the same channel just view wireless connections and it should tel you.
If this is a new connection on MAXdls its normal to drop in the first 10 days
