Computer closes in middle of something and restarts itself

This problem occurred after startup when clicking on a particular user account.
on 3 other accounts there was no problem
I logged off and went into another user account and deleted the offending one and everything seemed ok
Some time later I tried to copy a disc and when the copy program started the computer shut down again
In the system event viewer I found the following error:
BCCode : 1000008e    BCP1 : C0000005    BCP2 : 806D2753    BCP3 : B96B23BC
BCP4 : 00000000    OSVer : 5_1_2600    SP : 3_0    Product : 256_1
Also Service 'WMPNetworkSvc' did not start correctly because the registry could not be updated due to error '0x80070006'. If possible, reinstall Windows Media Player.
This may be unrelated
I noticed that the following error comes up a lot too:
The server {204810B9-73B2-11D4-BF42-00B0D0118B56} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.
Running XP home on a Mesh AMD Athlon 64 1gb ram
Is anyone familiar with this problem and know the possible cause
Thanks

Re: Computer closes in middle of something and restarts itself

It looks as if the registry was corrupt for the one user and by deleting the user you should have solved most of it.
You just need to download WMP and reinstall to fix that problem.
See how it goes it may have just had a bad hair day and now be ok or it may have corrupted something else you havent found as yet. I all these situations the first job is to backup vital data before it goes pear shaped
