I have one on my TV in the bedroom, I've used it about half a dozen times. It's good but I keep forgetting it's there, and use the Humax more. I actually just bought an Amazon Fire TV (box), Keyboard, and Game Controller and they arrived this morning. All plugged in but not had a chance to use them in anger, but that's my plan for the long weekend.

I got one a few weeks ago. In my experience it just works. I've used it with IPlayer and FilmonTv from my Nexus tablet.
Used it last week when we stayed just outside Calais en-route to the Netherlands. The accomodation was excellent , with free wifi but they only had French Freeview TV channels on the television. So I plugged my Chromecast into the back of the TV and used FilmonTV on the Nexus to cast UK channels to the TV.
