Chrome

Ok so I've got my nice fresh system after reinstalling windows. I've got avast 4.1 installed. I click chromes installer and am immediately told that its infected with a trojan.
Anyone else had this? I'd be surprised if Google was distributing a trojan but I couldn't explain how else it got there.

Had a try with Chrome a few weeks ago and it installed OK and worked well. However, have uninstalled it because I couldn't manage without my FF3 add-ons. There was also a bit of negative feedback about data capture when I started a thread on this although I wasn't too concerned about it and didn't uninstall because of this.
BTW my Avast is 4.8.

Yeah sorry mine is 4.8 too - I got confused when renaming the setup.exe

Get the portable edition of chrome from

No need to install just runs as it is
