Chrome - ready to test-drive?

If you are, then HERE  is the link to apply.  There seems to be a blip in the questionnaire - I could select United Kingdom but could not de-select the American state drop-down so it looks like I live in Alabama!   Huh

I applied for this - what are the chances?

Re: Chrome - ready to test-drive?

Minute I would think.  I too have applied - mentioned something about my age and gender possibly being un-represented in the trial.  Still don't think that I will be selected though.
It will be nigh on impossible for them to read all of them and the application form was not comprehensive enough to sort/select a broad range of people.  For instance there is no geographical location, only UK.  There is no age, gender, length of time using a computer, current computer skill level.
Like Fox, most people that apply will undoubtedly be very interested and adept in their computer use.  IMO they also need ordinary folk who just use the computer in a simple way but are willing to give Chrome OS a try and also (more importantly) be happy to feed back information.

Re: Chrome - ready to test-drive?

Personally I haven't bothered. I have no use for an "always connected" OS.
I tried Chrome Browser but went back to FF after it kept leaking memory after a day of so of use.

Re: Chrome - ready to test-drive?

Well, after giving feedback etc I hope it would be possible to overwrite it with Linux. Smiley

It IS Linux, just a different distro. Look at it that way.  Smiley

I don't like the Chrome browser.

Re: Chrome - ready to test-drive?

No, I don't either and have uninstalled it.  It is quite fast though, particularly on loading.  Would rather stick to my beloved Firefox.  Might be only Chrome users that will get picked for the trial.
Looking at the application form it seemed to be designed for the bright young things that live life with a mobile telephone welded to their anatomy!

I don't trust Google one bit so I wont be touching this with a barge pole, Stick with Linux Mint or Ubuntu and stay well clear of this If you like your privacy and security.

Re: Chrome - ready to test-drive?

If I should win the lottery and be given one of these Google boxes, I would use it for my Gmail account  - for a while.
I could scrape the chrome off by wiping it  and (probably) load Ubuntu with Firefox.
