Chipped printer cartridges - Petition

Spotted this petition, and it seems like a good one to support, especially as the rot is now starting to spread into the laser market.

Yeah, I'm not so much against the idea of chipping printer cartridges, but more the trend it could be the start of.
That said, I don't often print stuff out - if I did, I suspect that I'd be more motivated against the issue of the cartridges too.

Here is a link to disable the "low ink" warning on a couple of HP printers..... I guess if you have other printer make, there might be info on yours on this site too ..

This page (below) lists some cartridges that Epson have decided will be "virtually non refillable" but the company lists an alternative (their make) that can be refilled...

Not that I refill or buy alternative manufacture cartridges, but I do try to avoid purchasing printers that use `chipped` cartridges.

I can confirm with Anteaus that lazers are being chipped. I have a Kyocera lazer which detects that it does not have a genuine Kyocera toner installed. Well, it has got it slightly wrong as it is a Kyocera cartridge but I have refilled it. OK, so it does not stop me using it, but how long will that last.

Not for me.  The account it should have been sent to isn't with PlusNet.  I did check my spam list though and no sign of it.
