myreg is NOT on the Motor Insurance Database today

By allowing someone to drive this vehicle, the driver is at risk of being STOPPED by the police and having their vehicle impounded, and possibly DISPOSED OF, if proof of insurance cannot be provided.

Oh! shit.

Re: Check your (or anyone else's) car is insured

I wonder how long it takes to get the make and model on the Database?, my car is on but not the details.  Checked out a bad number plate, that came back with make and model and is insured

I heard that it takes about 2 weeks for the insurance company to get a car on the database.  I assume they do it in reverse if someone stops their payments at any time.

Mine is there and it was only bought, first registered and first insured on Monday of last week. Oh! ..and by the way it was the only way I could see how to bring a "little passion" back into my life at my age Roll_eyes

Re: Check your (or anyone else's) car is insured

That's quick.
When the Police stops a motorist I guess there is little excuse now to say 'I've only just bought the car'.  I think they even phone the insurer to check if it is insured before the motorist is allowed on his way if the car isn't  on the database.
Around Essex the Police are using a lot of numberplate recognition vans.  The Police park these on motorway bridges and they know immediately if a car is taxed, insured and has an MOT.

It usually takes less than 24 hours.
I had to insure and MOT my "Dumball" car before I could tax it online.  I insured it on the Friday morning, I MOT'ed it on the Friday afternoon, and I was able to tax it online on the Saturday morning - both the Insurance and the MOT details had been entered onto the database by then.
So yeah, no excuse any more.
